When writing blog posts, one of the most important elements of your post is your blog’s title. The title of your blog post will either motivate the visitor to read what you wrote, or cause them to skip it and move on to the next thing screaming for their attention.

Since the title is the very first thing visitors normally read, it is important that you take some time to strategically think about a title that will grab their attention and inspire them to read the entire article.

Your title is essentially the promise you are making to the reader if they choose to read your post. Never forget this, or else the quality of your blog post titles and content may go down hill in the future.

Below is a list of blog post title ideas you can swipe and use for your own future blog posts. The best part about these blog title ideas is that they can be mixed, matched or combined to form even more creative blog titles that get people to want to read what you wrote on your site

What about email subject lines for the campaigns sent out to list? I would assume same formula would apply but every now and then you have those emails that are not so much about - how to, X ways to… Any ideas to make subject lines more appealing and “openable”? Thanks!

Hi Devesh! Thank you for the idea for a future blog post. The problem with trying to create a one size fits all solution for email subject lines is that depending on what the message says will dictate what the subject line will be. What I would say is choose a format that works for you, and test different formats to see what brings a greater response over time.

Great post Scott! Not only are these great headlines to attract readers, they also can be used to generate ideas for blog post content. Certainly helpful for “writers (or bloggers) block”. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely Stephanie! I agree with you. Most of the time when writing a blog post I start with the headline first, and then create the content second.

Hi Scott, I know that the title is the most important, and often I get stumped. Thanks for putting this together, and the next time I get stumped, I’ll refer to your template for ideas! -Kristy

Wow, these titles sound really good! That being said, do you have any data that supports these titles attracting readers or having a low bounce rate etc?

Jeremy - Thanks for your comment! I use a lot of these same type of titles in the majority of my blog posts. Normally when traffic comes into blog posts with these type of titles, the “stick times” tend to be anywhere from 1-5 minutes depending on how long the blog post is. I hope I answered your question! If not please let me know!
